Showtime says the Halo TV series from 2013 is still happening
Way back during E3 2013, developer 343 Industries (which had inherited the Halo franchise from series creator Bungie) announced it was teaming up with Showtime and legendary director Steven Spielberg to create a live-action Halo series which would be aired on cable television. Sadly, little else has been said of the series since that time, but recently Showtime president and CEO David Nevins offered a small spark of hope by saying the series is still being developed.
Nevins was quoted saying as much during a recent interview with TV Guide, saying that the Halo project is “still in very active development.” However, aside from also mentioning that he had personally seen some scripts for the series, he declined to provide further details. Fortunately, TV Guide also talked with Showtime’s president of programming, Gary Levine, who offered his own reassurances that the Halo series is still being worked on:
" is absolutely still in development, still moving forward and I'm encouraged by what we've seen so far. It's still live action, and it will definitely satisfy the fans of Halo and I think also satisfy the drama audiences of Showtime."
Neither Nevins nor Levine could commit to any sort of potential timeframe for when the series will air, but at least Showtime hasn’t forgotten about it, even if most Halo fans probably have by this point.
